Gree CMs!

Saturday, December 15, 2012

Gree is a social networking service focusing on games, and it seems like Arashi is in their new CMs! With the tagline that pretty much says "let's make things interesting!" and individual CMs asking things like "everyone, are you having fun?" (Aiba's) I guess the focus is on "making things interesting".

Not sure what exactly Gree is advertising (their service in general?) but in any case, I find the CMs visually appealing XDD

NTV Best Artist - 2012.11.28

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Aired On: November 28th, 2012

I have to be honest. I was in Tokyo on the date this show was aired, and I fully intended to watch it, except... I kind of didn't. At least, not the Arashi parts. I only caught the last half of "Troublemaker" because I had left the common room for a bit, and then while watching the show I kept getting sleepier and sleepier as the common room got noisier and noisier with more people coming in, and in the end the introvert in me gave up and went up to my room, 3/4 into the show. I knew that Arashi would be the last performers, but I figured that I'd download it once I'm back in Malaysia. Which I did.

As expected, my favourite is the "Wild at Heart" performance. I love "Troublemaker" and am not so keen on "Your Eyes", but "Wild at Heart" is one of the Arashi songs I could watch them perform again and again, and still find myself glued to the screen.

Day 4: Sapporo

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Honestly, a lot of things happened on the second day that I wanted to write about (when it was happening), but by the time we got back to the dorm we were staying at I was just too tired. And by now, a week later, the memory of the two days have kind of blurred together ^^;

Second day, our view.

Arafes DVD jacket covers!

Thursday, December 6, 2012

Johnny's Net finally upped the jacket covers for the Arafes DVD! The LE and RE looks the same, but the LE looks like it's a little wider? Also it boasts a 92-page booklet, so. I can't wait for my copy :D

Day 3 - Sapporo!

Saturday, December 1, 2012

Sapporo Dome!

The first day of Sapporo Dome! Kelly and I arrived in Sapporo at around 9:30 in the morning, and by the time we reached our hostel we were ready to just crash into our beds and sleep til noon. Instead, we went back out and slogged through the snow to get to Sapporo Dome, to buy goods! Luckily, there wasn't really a queue for goods today. One of the girls at our hostel told us that the earphone jacks (which are red for Sapporo, by the way. Yay!) sold out the day before. Thanks to the lack of queue, we got all our goods pretty quickly. This also meant that we had extra hours to kill, and all the nearby restaurants and cafes were completely full (with Arashi fans, of course). There was a display of Nino's Pocky ads at a supermarket we passed. The entire area was crowded with fans buying Pocky, because they had a special where if you bought two boxes, you get a devil horns headband. I bought a couple, to give to my sister, who's a Nino fan.

Day 1 - Harajuku/Shibuya

Thursday, November 29, 2012

On our first day we were going to wander around a few places, but ended up mostly just in the Harajuku and Shibuya area. We started out late, and headed straight to the Johnny's Shop (I didn't go on my last trip) for Popcorn shop photos. I also got a couple of Eito pics, but not as many as I would like to. Still ended up spending more than I thought >_<

Japan - Day 2: Arafes!

Saturday, October 6, 2012

The gates open at 3pm. My sister and I arrived at Kokuritsu at around 3:15, and the train station and entire path to the place was already packed with people going to the concert, people planning to just hang around and listen from outside, people holding up "please sell me tickets" boards, and people trying to keep everyone else in order. We noticed it when we came to line up for goods, too - just the sound of cicadas and seeing everyone walking with their Arafes shopping bags or wearing Arafes t-shirts made us feel like we stepped right into the 5x10 overture. I know some fans who aren't so keen on Kokuritsu concerts because of the sheer size of the stadium, but for us it's a special thing, and we've wanted to attend to a Kokuritsu concert ever since we first became fans. I'm so glad that we got to go, together!

the feelings while passing by through this entrance... indescribable.

Arashi no Shukudai-kun #037

Aired On: June 18th, 2007

Continuing my re-watch! At the gathering I was transferring some of my Mago Mago files to Fatin's pendrive, and I thought of how there are a lot of episodes I've yet to watch, which made me think, I should start on a Mago Mago watching project!, which reminded me that I have yet to continue my Shukudai-kun re-watch. ^^; So, continuing, after so long.

Malaysia no Arafes / Arashian Sleepover #3

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

To be honest, I was already dead tired before our "24/7" flailing fest started. And I had - and still have - a terrible cough. But I was still looking forward to it! After all, one of the best things about being in this fandom is meeting other fans and flailing together. And it's the first time seeing everyone in awhile, especially since I just came back from my very short Japan trip - it's time to unload and distribute the Arafes goods!

This time everything is even more laidback than usual; everyone brought food, which we all enjoyed while watching concert DVDs and having our own running commentaries about the boys. We started with Beautiful World, before changing to All the Best for the PVs, and I think the rest ran through Iza, Now!, Time, and AAA 2006 while I was dozing off from my meds. We even watched the Shiyagare SP live on my laptop.

In the morning we woke up to more DVD watching, before finally getting ready for lunch at Pavilion's Tokyo Street. Mui and Hana were with us on the first day but couldn't join on the second, while Isabelle joined us on the second day but wasn't around on the first.

Japan - Day 1: Goods

Thursday, September 20, 2012

I'm going to sleep now, so... lets just say, I spent about seven hours in the goods queue today. >.<

When we were near the stadium we heard bits of One Love, Love Rainbow and Step and Go. Seeing the set list from today's concert reports, we saw that yes, the songs are included. Also, apparently at today's concert Arashi reported their Dome tour! (Also an album, but that's another story for another time) Which would be called Popcorn, lol. Well, I didn't go to today's concert and haven't read full reports, so I'm not sure why the name, and what makes it different from Arafes. But now I'm wondering, do I save up like crazy to catch the ending of the Popcorn tour, or do I wait for the next Arafes, for 2013? Questions, questions.

Guess I'd better be used to the super-limited budget I set for my food/expenses when saving for this trip.

I also went to Mandarake in Ikebukuro. I was going to go to at least one of the other branches, but in the end I was to tired to do so. Found a lot of interesting things, anyway :)

Arashi ni Shiyagare! #042

Sunday, August 5, 2012

Aired On: April 30th, 2011

When guessing who the guest might be, Aiba reminded the rest of Arashi that they had talked about it before, and had decided that it was about time for Matsu-nii (Matsuoka Masahiro, TOKIO) to appear. Sho agreed, saying that it's because Matsu-nii's drama (High School Restaurant) has started, so he would probably appear to do promotions. Nino commented that if he didn't come (that day), he probably wouldn't come at all.  Jun said that he thought that Matsu-nii really was coming that day. They all turned out to be right - both the audience and Arashi were really excited, and Sho and Nino claimed, "finally!" Since all of them kept expecting Matsu-nii to appear on their show sooner or later, and Matsu-nii haven't - until then.

Waku Waku, 24 hour tv goods

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

My last batch of orders arrived! Besides Eito movie lottery goods, I don't think I'll have anything else coming in after this, not for awhile anyway. Even these had been piling up for sometime before finally being mailed to me.

First of all, shop photos! I ordered them at separate times and didn't quite realise that they piled up into such a big stack ^^;. These are for Wild At Heart, Face Down (where the bulk of it is from), and Your Eyes. Also some Eito ones :)

24hour TV goods. It took me a looooong time to decide on which shirt to get. In the end I went with pink, because I figure almost everyone I know who are getting the shirt would probably get the blue. And I can't wear yellow, so.

Since I'm a Yoshitomo Nara fan this shirt is extra special to me <33

Aaand my Waku Waku Gakkou goods. I got the Sho-kun clear file and the tote. Although really I loved all the clear files, and wish that I could've gotten the bento. Oh well. I'm loving these a lot, anyway!

Arashi Festival at Kokuritsu!

Sunday, July 22, 2012

I'm sure that everybody already knows by now - I'm always, always late with news after all. Arashi is holding "ARAFES", or "Arashi Festival", at Kokuritsu both this and next year. Apparently Kokuritsu is going to go under renovation after next year, so Arashi will be doing concerts for the last two years of the "current" Kokuritsu. Instead of their usual concert, ARAFES is supposedly going to be different, inspired by the broadway musicals and Cirque du Soleil show that Aiba, Jun, and Leader went to NY for recently. Hmm, so that trip was a research trip XD Furthermore, there will be no back dancers, so it's just five of them and thousands of fans. And they're having a voting on J-Web where fans can vote for 3 favourite singles, 3 favourite coupling songs, 3 favourite songs from albums, and 1 other song request - I suppose the songs with most votes will be performed.

I know that a lot of people in the English-speaking fandom will be voting for "Tokei Jikake no Umbrella", (while I don't understand why so many people love that song to bits, I do understand loving a song that never gets performed, and wanting to see it performed so badly) and I know that "Love So Sweet" is probably going to be in the top votes anyway. I do hope that more people choose songs that weren't performed recently (at least, in the last couple of years) but having said that, I myself voted for "5x10" and "Gorimuchu", both of which were performed last year. In the end, everyone has their own favourites, and any concert that is an Arashi Matsuri is fine by me! (Yes, even if they do end up singing all the Hanadan songs and "Lucky Man" and "Hadashi no Mirai", yet again. I'd be lying if I said hearing those songs don't make me happy!)

My friend Salwa isn't subscribed to the mobile app, so I let her use one of my three votes for each category. We voted for - [single] "Kaze no Mukou e", "We Can Make It!", "Sakura Sake" (Salwa's choice); [coupling song] "Superfresh", "Gorimuchu", "Tokei Jikake no Umbrella" (Salwa's choice); [album] "Joy", "5x10", "Yes? No?" (Salwa's choice); [request] "Sketch".

"Kaze no Mukou e" and "We Can Make It!" are two songs that, when I heard them on TV when some Arashi PV special was on, made me decide to look up more of their music. I really liked the rap lyrics in both - I guess that's why Sho-kun quickly became my ichiban, although I didn't know yet back then that he was responsible for them. Salwa chose "Sakura Sake", after which this conversation ensued -

ME: But they sang that last year.
SALWA: So? What if not many people chose it this year?

Since "Sakura Sake" means to her exactly what "Kaze no Mukou e" and "We Can Make It!" means to me, and I love the song anyway, I decided that she was right.

"Superfresh" is easily the song I wanted to hear live the most, while for Salwa it's "Tokei Jikake no Umbrella". (My Girl single wins favourite single!) "Gorimuchu", because, well... we both wanted to hear it again. ^^;

Choosing album songs was difficult because there really were so many! In the end we both decided that "5x10" is a must, because it's a song that we'd want to hear, no matter how many times it gets performed. I chose "Joy" because it's the song from Beautiful World that I wanted to see performed the most, but it wasn't in the setlist for the con I went to, nor in the DVD. Salwa chose "Yes? No?", because she really loves that song.

What I really wish they did was put the solos as a separate "3 choices", instead of lumping them with the albums, because there were a lot I'd want to vote for, like "Gimmick Game", but I decided against because if I have to choose between voting for one member and voting for all of them, of course I'd choose all of them.

In the blank request space, I put in "Sketch".

Anyway, the concert for this year will be held on September 20th and 21st. I wonder if there will be Dome performances after, or if the Waku Waku events was it for their Dome events of the year. I wonder how Kokuritsu would be with only five of them on stage. I wonder what other people are voting for, and if/when they will release the results.

Beautiful World DVD, Face Down & Your Eyes LEs

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Since they had so many releases in such a short time, I had my copy of Face Down shipped together with the Beautiful World Tour DVD, and my copy of Your Eyes together with One Ok Rock's Zankyo Reference DVD. Which meant I received my items later than usual, but I didn't mind. I've already watched the Beautiful World DVD several times over since the leak, of course, but the singles - I'm afraid I've only looked through the booklets. Also I watched the Face Down PV, but... that's about it. I love that they've had three singles out this year and all, but what I'm really waiting for is their next album. Greedy, that be my name.

Long Overdue Trip Post! - Day 13: Odaiba/Fuji TV

Friday, May 18, 2012

We met up with Kishiko, Ono-chan and Siti for a trip to Odaiba ~ I didn't get to go  on my last trip, so I decided that I had to fit it in this time, despite the fact that it cost quite a lot and we were running on a tight budget :p It was fun, anyway, because it's my first time in Odaiba as an Arashian, so the kinds of stuff we did/looked at this time were completely different from all my previous trips.

In the evening Salwa and I went on to meet her friend, another Arashian for a quick dinner and trip to Mandarake. The day after would be our last (technically speaking), which we spent in Ikebukuro and Meiji-jingu with Kishiko and Siti. On our actual last day we spent the whole day at Haneda, so this actually concludes our trip. Until next time, I guess? ^^

Long Overdue Trip Post! - Day 12, Part 3

Thursday, May 17, 2012

The best part of the Keikarou trip, for me, was Aiba's mom, of course. She's still really kakkoii, and she talked to us for a bit when we were paying for our food and some of the new phone straps (Salwa and I both got a strap for ourselves, and I got an extra for Illy). We told her that we've been to Keikarou before, separately, and when she asked why we're in Japan this time we told her that it was for Arashi's concert. She asked if it was the Fukuoka con.

US: Yeah, it was.
HER: Sho-kun's birthday?
US: Yes! We were really lucky to catch that. It was fun.
HER: *gesturing, indicating a miniskirt while grinning* Cosplay?
US: *laughing and nodding* That, too.

I was wondering what she thought of Aiba's cosplay, so I suppose the fact that she seemed so very amused is the answer XD. She asked where we were from, and when we answered, she commented that we must be so unused to the cold, since Malaysia's so hot. They had pictures of Langkawi (with notes scribbled on them) hung in the restaurant, so we suspect that she, or another member of the Aiba family, have vacationed here before!

Long Overdue Trip Post! - Day 12, Part 2

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

I ordered the gyoza, and Salwa ordered an omelette and rice, so that we could share. We also ordered the goma-dango because Steph recommended it when I told her we're going to Keikarou. Once we were done with our orders, we (and everyone at the other tables) started taking photos of everything we could, haha.
The gyoza wasn't bad - my favourite would still be Tenkaichi's, but Keikarou's gyoza are huge and satisfying ^^. We saw someone at a nearby table with chilli prawns, which had Salwa salivating, so we ordered that as well. I think I enjoyed the food a lot more this time, compared to my previous trip to Keikarou!

Long Overdue Trip Post! - Day 12, Part 1

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

The plan for Monday (23rd January) was a visit to Keikarou!

Salwa and I met at Makuhari-Hongo Station at around 10am (the plan was to meet at 9am, but she was late due to taking the wrong train) - I was coming from Asakusa while Salwa was only just coming back from her host family's place, if I remember it right. Anyway, we wanted to go early because the last time I went with Shida, we arrived at 11am and lined up all noon, just to be told that we had to come back for dinner ^^;

This time the crowd wasn't so bad when we arrived, though, and we ended up being among the first to be let in once they opened for lunch.

Magazines - anan (Aiba), TV Guide (Sho) & Weekly the Television (Sho)

Monday, May 14, 2012

I've had Aiba's anan (no.1800, 2012.03.28) on reserve at the store since March ^^; I didn't get any magazines in April, but since I was collecting my May and June subscriptions of Liniere, I decided to get the anan as well. Then I passed by the shelves and saw that there's TV Guide (2012 5/12-5/18) and Weekly the Television (2012 no.20, 5/12-5/18) with Sho on the cover, which I immediately picked up and carried with me to the cashier.

Conclusion: the anan is gorgeous, although I would have preferred Aiba's Freecell, which I didn't get because it's much more expensive. Both the TV Guide and Weekly the Television are so pretty! *_*

Music Station 2012.05.04

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Ah, the much anticipated Music Station, in which there would be the first TV performance of "Face Down", plus the song with most votes from fans. I know a lot of fans in the English-speaking world were banking on "Tokei Jikake no Umbrella", and some of them were extremely disappointed, and even angry, that it wasn't chosen.

For me, well - "Tokei Jikake..." really is far from my favourite by them, and I don't really care whether or not it's performed ^^; I understand the feelings of the fans who love that song, though - personally I would really love a performance of "Superfresh", myself, or even "Joy", but I knew that the chances of the majority voting for non-standards would be very slim. I voted for "Superfresh" anyway. And of course, "Love So Sweet" won the poll. Why wouldn't it? It's a favourite among many fans, and non-fans who are voting would be more familiar with the popular songs ^^

Anyway. I wasn't particularly happy or disappointed with the song choice, but I enjoyed their performance thoroughly, because they seemed really happy :D :D And I accidentally deleted my caps of "Love So Sweet", so only "Face Down" caps here... haha.

The "Face Down" performance was... *_*

Is it enough to say I loved it and watched it repeatedly? Because I do, and I did.

Long Overdue Trip Post! - Day 9

Friday, May 11, 2012

Day 9 (Jan 19th) really wasn't supposed to be about Arashi at all, but instead about the other great love of my life - books. Met up with Ono-chan to see the buildings of some of my favourite publishers, and browse through many, many antiquarian bookstores.

And then, of course, I found out that even when I don't go looking for Arashi, they'll still appear in front of me. In the form of back issues of magazines. I actually found magazines and newspapers from/about their debut, but photos weren't allowed and the mags were too expensive (of course) to buy, so I treated the whole thing like a wonderful museum experience, stared at all the old mags, calendars, chirashis, movie pamphlets, and shop photos in awe (not to mention J-Rock memorabilia! But that's another story to be told in another blog/time), and moved on. These are some of the not-so-valuable items, displayed outside the store -

The day after the concert Salwa and I left Fukuoka very early in the morning, stopping at Shin-Kobe just around lunch time. In Kobe we met with an old friend of mine, who recently moved there from Osaka. He and his wife took us to lunch and around town, which was really nice of them, and I'm really glad I got to see them, because usually I only go to Tokyo and never get to see my friends who live elsewhere. Anyway, besides picking up lots of Hitachi and AU pamphlets, we didn't see or do anything Arashi-related, but I did find this place that sold unofficial phone straps:

Long Overdue Trip Post! - Day 4

Monday, May 7, 2012

The 14th was a really exciting day ^^ - we had agreed to go line up for goods with the four Arashians we met at our hostel, so we left very early in the morning for Fukuoka Yahoo! Dome. The thing was, we thought we were super early; there were literally no one in the streets when we walked out and it was still very dark out, and even the bus only had one or two other passengers in it. But almost every stop had more and more Arashians coming in - people with Arashi totes, phone straps, etc., people dressed up in their ichiban's colours, and all that. We ran up the stairs to the Dome, stopping only to take a picture of it, and noticed that the queue for goods already went halfway around the Dome.

The last time I went to Japan, I used an iPhone, which had a Typepad app. Last January I was using (and still am!) Sony's Xperia Arc, and there's no Typepad app on Android that I could find, so I kind of got lazy about updating. Now it's May... and I think I should post these before the year is over ^^;

The first day isn't really a "day"; Salwa and I arrived very late at night, and even managed to miss the last train to our hostel. The next couple of days were spent meeting friends and randomly walking about, so it wasn't really Arashi-oriented at all, but we did manage to spot some stuff :D

Arashi no Shukudai-kun #035

Saturday, May 5, 2012

Aired On: June 4th, 2007

OMG, I just realised that the last time I did my Shukudai-kun re-watch was in February last year. Since I still kept to my promise of not watching Shukudai-kun out of sequence until I'm done, this means that I haven't actually watched Shukudai-kun since then! (*_*) So I think it's about time I continue (^^;;

The guest for episode #35 is singer/actress Katase Nana. She came to promote her film Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai, which is about a couple who could communicate telepathically. Since it's a slow love story, the conversation started along that theme, but as usual, the subject soon turned into food - as her homework for the audience is to find delicious and unusual yam dishes.

Ans-035-01Sho-kun wanted to know what slow love meant, and Aiba helped ^^;

(A quick note while waiting for painkillers to kick in >.<)

Well I bought these at least a couple of weeks ago, (these pics were taken around that time, too, but never had the time to post them) but I have yet to buy the Aiba anan that's been on my desk at my office since it first arrived at the store, and I have really been too busy to do much else Arashi-related these days. I wasn't supposed to spend on magazines this year, but television guides are a lot cheaper, so I think of them as an exception when Arashi/members are on the cover.  Although Aiba's anan is another exception (too adorable, okay) and, uhm, I've ordered April's magazine because the cover looked shiny.

もう誘拐なんてしない
